News Article:
British Award-winning automation engineering company ALS Mechatronic (“ALS”) has appointed Jim Humphreys as Vice-president, Business Development for North America. The USA and Canada are now growing into the company's most important overseas markets, which ALS recognised by opening its own direct sales offices in the US last year and the incorporation of ALS Mechatronic Inc.

ALS Mechatronic was set up in 2002 and specialises in the design, build and installation of bespoke factory automation systems, control systems, container handling machinery, vision inspection systems and robotics; typically automating with machinery and software, repeatable labour-intensive manufacturing processes.

A veteran in manufacturing automation, Jim Humphrey's has racked up more than 30 years' experience, initially developing and executing automation projects, before moving into sales and management. He has a degree in Manufacturing Engineering.

Commenting on his appointment, Humphreys said: “I wanted to join the team at ALS Mechatronic having been a customer of theirs (albeit indirectly). ALS are first class for quality, cost, speed of delivery and innovative solutions to all sorts of automation challenges – particularly in packaging and container handling. They're a great team of people, friendly and reliable who always go that extra mile. It's impressive how they have already built a sizable and loyal customer ba se in North America, mainly from word of mouth. I look forward to introducing more North American companies to ALS Mechatronic.”

Welcoming Humphreys to the team, Andrew Steward, founder and managing director for ALS Mechatronic said: “Appointing Jim marks a significant milestone for ALS. We are experiencing extraordinary growth in North America, despite the challenges Covid has thrown at us. It is fortuitous that Jim and I met. He too is a ‘Solutioneer'! He has the same values and like me, regardless of role still enjoys getting hands on with equipment and helping clients find the best automation solutions to address their unique challenges. I look forward to working with Jim to develop our exciting expansion plans for North America.”

The announcement also follows ALS Mechatronic's recent recognition with a prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise for outstanding short-term growth in international markets showing steep year on year growth in the last three years with no dips. This is highest honour given to a UK business, which is bestowed by Her Majesty the Queen on recommendation by the British Prime Minister.
